This was a picture from Life Magazine where they did an article on Jim Morrison and his "style" of music. Labeled the "Lizard King," he was also the writer of the music he and the Doors played. The writer of the article portrayed him as "King of acid rock" and spoke of his unusual way of listening to music - that it had to be played very loud and constant listening to again and again to "hear" the words. Not long after this photo was taken, Jim's appearance changed drastically as he began drinking more heavily and doing drugs. Only three years later, he died at the age of 27.
