The "electric" guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, whose record sales soared into the millions, was famous for his literal "smashing" performances as many times, at the end of his concerts, he would literally smash his guitar and/or other instruments. He recorded songs like "Wild Thing" and "Purple Haze." As a self-taught musician, he learned the guitar as well as other instruments. Pictured here, in the year of his untimely death in 1970, it was reported that he died after being found by his girlfriend in her apartment from what is speculated to be an overdose of drugs.
